At a meeting of the committee on labor, health care, women's affairs, and social issues, Deputy Zhyldyz Egemberdieva reported that citizens without mandatory health insurance require at least five days to register for it.
She asked the director of the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund (MHIF) about the possibility of reducing this timeframe.
“If a person needs urgent treatment in a hospital and does not have mandatory health insurance, they will have to wait five days, which could worsen their condition. Is it possible to register for mandatory health insurance in one day?” she clarified.
Azmat Mukhanov, head of the MHIF, noted that this process used to take significantly longer.
“Currently, the minimum timeframe is five days. First, the funds are deposited into the bank, then the next day the bank transfers them to us, and we begin processing. Additionally, it is important to remember the insurance principle: it is better to take care of your health in advance. If planned treatment is required, it is advisable to consider obtaining insurance five days before the procedure,” he added.
