According to information from the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan, the incidence of hepatitis B among children has decreased by approximately 145 times from 2000 to 2020.

This success in the field of prevention is attributed to the fact that in 2002, vaccination against hepatitis B was included in the national vaccination calendar. Currently, the immunization of newborns is fully funded by the republican budget, while vaccination of children under one year is carried out with the active support of the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI).

Since 2022, the prevention program has been expanded to include the adult population. As part of a pilot project implemented with the assistance of Rospotrebnadzor, Kyrgyzstan received 350,000 doses of vaccine and 140,000 rapid tests. Initially, the program was launched in the Chui region and Bishkek, but later expanded to other regions of the country.

According to the Ministry of Health, as of February 1, 2026, vaccination rates are as follows:

1 dose of vaccine received - 323,638 people;

2 doses - 271,182 people (83.8%);

3 doses - 195,092 people (73.6%).

The ministry notes that these measures have significantly increased the level of herd immunity among adults.
