According to Deputy Minister of Health Bakytbek Kadyraliev, from 2000 to 2020, the incidence of hepatitis B among children decreased by approximately 145 times. He reported this on February 24 at a meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh dedicated to issues of labor, health, social matters, and women's affairs.

Kadyraliev noted that this achievement is one of the best examples of the implementation of preventive policies in the country.

Since 2002, vaccination against hepatitis B has been included in the National Calendar of Preventive Vaccinations. Vaccines for newborns are fully funded from the state budget, and for children under 1 year old, vaccination is carried out in collaboration with the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization.

Additionally, since 2022, vaccination of the adult population has commenced. As part of a pilot project, 350,000 doses of vaccine and 140,000 rapid tests were obtained with the support of Rospotrebnadzor. Initially, the program was launched in the Chui region and Bishkek, and then expanded to other regions.

As of February 1, 2026:

— 323,638 people received 1 dose;

— 271,182 people received 2 doses (which is 83.8%);

— 195,092 people received 3 doses (73.6%).

These measures have significantly increased the level of herd immunity among the adult population, he added.
