Today, December 16, 2025, Kanibek Dosmambetov, the acting Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, made an unscheduled visit to the children's oncology department of the National Center for Maternal and Child Health. This was reported by the Ministry of Health. During his visit, Kanibek Dosmambetov familiarized himself with the organization of the treatment process, the state of the infrastructure, the system of providing medications, and the work of auxiliary services. He also held a lengthy meeting with the parents of patients, during which acute and systemic problems they face were discussed.
Parents raised important issues regarding medication provision, the availability and quality of drugs, as well as the conditions and timelines for deliveries. These aspects are critical for the treatment of childhood cancer. The work of the laboratory service was also discussed, especially cases where parents are forced to turn to private laboratories for necessary tests, such as determining the level of C-reactive protein and other indicators crucial for monitoring the condition of children during treatment.
The discussion also touched on the issue of providing blood components, their logistics, and timely delivery. In this regard, the acting minister instructed to allocate specialized transport to ensure uninterrupted delivery of blood components and other medical needs for children in the department.
Kanibek Dosmambetov also expressed a principled position on the inadmissibility of disruptions and lack of transparency in the procurement system for medications, especially those vital for children. He noted that the current situation requires a systematic analysis and management decisions.
In this regard, the minister announced the establishment of a commission for a comprehensive analysis of the work of the Department of Medicines and Medical Devices, as well as the state enterprise "Kyrgyzpharm." The goal of the commission will be to identify problem areas and develop proposals to improve efficiency and transparency in the medication supply system.
During the meeting, issues of interdisciplinary interaction among doctors, the organization of consultations, and the conditions for the stay of children and their parents were also discussed. The head of the department emphasized that pediatric oncology requires a comprehensive approach, where medical, organizational, and social aspects must be considered together.
As a result of the visit, specific instructions were given to the management of the National Center for Maternal and Child Health and the structural divisions of the Ministry of Health. These instructions concern improving the work of the laboratory service, ensuring the availability of tests, optimizing the logistics of blood components, and controlling the quality of medications. It was also instructed to address the nutritional needs of parents of children and create necessary living conditions for their stay, including the purchase of children's tables and the organization of a pharmacy point in the building.
Additionally, the acting minister reported that, at the instruction of the country's president, S.N. Japarov, the issue of constructing a specialized shelter for the temporary accommodation of parents of children with cancer from the regions undergoing long-term treatment at the NCMMH is currently being worked on. This will create comfortable living conditions for families, reduce financial burdens, and improve access to highly specialized medical care. ```
