The meeting of the Deputy Minister of Health Bakyt Kadyraliev with future doctors took place on February 14 at the I.K. Akhunbaev Kyrgyz State Medical Academy.
During the discussion, participants addressed key topics related to the professional training of students, including internships and residency, as well as improving clinical training. The main focus was on the need to strengthen the practical component of education starting from the third year, when students begin to study clinical disciplines. It is important to involve experienced physician mentors and increase the hours of practical work in medical institutions.
The Deputy Minister also announced the Ministry of Health's plans to send 20 graduates to residency in the most in-demand specialties on a competitive basis as part of international cooperation. "Participation in the program implies that specialists will return to Kyrgyzstan to work in the healthcare sector after their training," the ministry added.
Additionally, as part of the project "Additional Funding for the Operation to Improve the Quality of Primary Health Care," grants are provided for international experience exchange and training events, which opens up new opportunities for residency training abroad with subsequent employment in the country.
The issue of forming a managerial personnel reserve was also discussed. Bakyt Kadyraliev suggested that students studying in the Department of Public Health undertake internships within the Ministry of Health system to prepare for future careers as managers in this field.
"The modern healthcare system needs not only highly qualified clinicians but also professional managers. We are ready to create conditions for training and international exchange, while the knowledge gained should be directed towards the development of healthcare in Kyrgyzstan," he concluded.
