As reported by Reuters, this concerns 233,000 refugees who arrived in the country between January 20, 2021, and February 20, 2025, according to a memo received from the U.S. government.

The documents state that the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has the authority to revoke refugee status for those already in the country if it is found that they do not meet the established criteria. The memo also mentions that the Biden administration may have focused on quantity rather than the thoroughness of interviews and checks.

The necessity for these measures is explained by Trump's executive order from January 20 of this year, which suspended the resettlement of refugees in the U.S. This order emphasizes that national security must be considered when accepting refugees and that the U.S. should only accept those who are capable of fully integrating into society.
