The British media company BBC has apologized to Donald Trump for the misleading editing of his speech but has refused to pay any compensation. This was reported by The Guardian.

The scandal erupted following the release of the documentary film Panorama, where Trump's speech delivered on January 6, 2021, was edited in such a way that its meaning was distorted. As a result of combining phrases spoken at different times, the impression was created that he was calling for violence.

Lawyers for the former president demanded official apologies from the BBC, a retraction, and compensation of $1 billion. The BBC apologized, including through a personal letter from Chairman Samir Shah, but did not agree to pay any funds.

Additionally, the film "Trump: A Second Chance?" was removed from all media platforms, and the BBC promised not to air it again.

It was previously reported that the editing of Trump's speech in Panorama created the illusion of his support for the riots on Capitol Hill. This situation sparked internal criticism within the BBC and led to the resignation of the company's head, Tim Davie.
