According to information published by CNN, the Pentagon has given the green light for the supply of American long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine. This decision was made considering that it will not negatively impact the United States' ammunition stocks.
The channel emphasizes that the final decision on this matter rests with President Donald Trump.

In early October, Trump hinted at the possibility of supplying Tomahawks to Ukraine. However, on October 17, during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, he expressed a preference not to transfer the missiles, emphasizing that he "would not want to give away what is necessary for the defense of our country."

Nevertheless, as CNN reports, the Pentagon had already assessed the stocks and agreed to the supplies before Trump's meeting with Zelensky. This information has sparked optimism among the U.S. European allies, as sources told the channel.

When Trump changed his position a few days later, it surprised American and European officials. The U.S. leader, according to sources, informed Zelensky that Washington would not supply Tomahawks, at least for the time being. The President of Ukraine noted that Trump did not refuse the supplies but also did not confirm them.

CNN links Trump's change of opinion to his conversation with Vladimir Putin on October 16. The Russian president, according to the channel, expressed concerns that Ukraine could use Tomahawks to attack Moscow and St. Petersburg. Putin added that while such strikes would not change the situation on the front, they could negatively affect Russian-American relations, as reported by the Kremlin.
