In an interview with journalists in Doha on October 25, Trump stated that he finds it pointless to discuss matters with Putin without real progress in the peace process. He emphasized that he does not want to "waste time" if there is no confidence in reaching an agreement.

According to Trump, he has "always had good relations with Putin," but he is currently feeling disappointed regarding peace initiatives.

Two days ago, on October 23, he canceled a meeting with Putin that was scheduled in Budapest, citing a lack of guarantees that a new meeting would yield tangible results.

For its part, the Russian side claims that the negotiations are not canceled, but only postponed. Putin noted that more time is needed for preparation, and his special representative Kirill Dmitriev stated in an interview with CNN that the meeting will still take place "in the future."

Recall that the plan for the meeting in Budapest arose after a phone call between the leaders on October 16, where military assistance to Ukraine was discussed, including the supply of Tomahawk missiles. Following this conversation, Trump again postponed the decision on the transfer of weapons to Kyiv.

Meanwhile, on October 23, the U.S. imposed new sanctions against the Russian oil sector, restricting operations with "Rosneft" and "Lukoil," setting a deadline of November 21 for completing transactions with these companies.
