On the Truth Social platform, Trump announced his readiness to provide every American with $2,000, using funds generated from customs duties. This message was published in an article presented by The Guardian.

The president noted that payments would not be available to high-income citizens, which could help increase public support for his tariff policy.

Trump also characterized opponents of high tariffs as "fools," claiming that the U.S. economy is in "the best shape."

He stated: "We are the richest and most respected country on the planet with almost zero inflation and record stock asset values. We are earning trillions of dollars and will soon begin paying down the national debt of $37 trillion."

To implement this initiative, Congressional approval will be required. Trump has previously raised the issue of payments funded by tariffs.

At the same time, Republican Senator Josh Hawley proposed introducing tax credits of $600 for most citizens and their minor children. However, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessen emphasized that tariff revenues should primarily be used to reduce the federal debt, which exceeds $38 trillion.

According to the Treasury Department, $195 billion was collected in customs duties during the first three quarters of this year.

Additionally, The Guardian reports that this week the U.S. Supreme Court reviewed Trump's position on the legality of high tariffs and, according to preliminary data, viewed it with skepticism.
