At a meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban at the White House, Trump noted that the Russian side shows no desire to cease hostilities. "The main problem is that they simply do not want to stop. I believe they will still be forced to stop, as this is becoming costly for Russia," he added.

Speaking about a potential meeting with Putin in the future, Trump stated that such an opportunity remains. He expressed a desire to hold the summit specifically in Budapest and emphasized that Orban "understands Putin well."

The U.S. President also mentioned that both sides believe the conflict "is on the verge of ending," but for Ukraine to win, in his opinion, a "miracle" will be required.

On the other hand, Moscow claims that the summit has not been canceled, but merely postponed. Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov noted that the meeting could be organized "in the shortest possible time," but at the moment "it is not relevant." Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov added that the conditions for a meeting of the leaders "have not yet been created and require serious preparation."
