While flying aboard the presidential plane Air Force One, Donald Trump responded to a journalist's question regarding Russia's recent statement about the successful test of the new ‘Burevestnik’ missile, which is claimed to be capable of traveling over 8,000 miles (approximately 13,000 km).
“Russia is aware that we have a nuclear submarine, which is the best in the world, and it is located right off their shores. Therefore, we do not need a missile to travel 8,000 miles. We are not playing games with them, and they are not playing games with us. We regularly conduct missile tests; however, as I mentioned, we have a nuclear submarine, and we do not need to shoot at such distances. Moreover, I believe that such statements from Putin are inappropriate. He should focus on ending the war, which, according to him, was supposed to last only a week, and now it is approaching its fourth year,” Trump noted.
In response to the introduction of new anti-Russian sanctions, Vladimir Putin issued a serious warning to the West, stating that Russia possesses the most powerful nuclear arsenal. This was reported by the British newspaper Daily Mail.
According to the publication, Putin's statement coincided with the testing of the ‘Burevestnik’ missile, which is equipped with a nuclear engine and has unlimited range.
Daily Mail also reports that the missile has successfully passed all tests and can remain airborne for several days.
Earlier, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, congratulated “Russia’s friends” on the successful testing of the ‘Burevestnik’ cruise missile.
Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Putin is ready to accept the American concept regarding Ukraine and “move forward in practical terms on the proposed basis.” Lavrov added that Moscow and Washington agreed to take a pause to consider the proposals, as reported by the TASS agency.
