During the tests, two hypersonic vehicles were launched from the Ryokpho area in the capital Pyongyang and directed northeast. They "hit the target" on the plateau near Mount Kwasan in the Orang County, located in North Hamgyong Province, according to information from the agency.
Pak Jong Chon, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, who was present at the launches, emphasized that the new weapon demonstrates the continuous improvement of the country's defense capabilities. He also praised the achievements of the research group in the field of national security.
On the eve, South Korea reported that North Korea conducted tests of a ballistic missile. According to preliminary data, one missile was launched towards the Sea of Japan; however, its type, altitude, and flight range remain unknown.
