During the summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Kuala Lumpur, Thai Prime Minister Anuthin Charnvirakul and his Cambodian counterpart Hun Manet signed a declaration symbolizing a step towards a peaceful resolution of the conflict. U.S. President Donald Trump was also present at the event.

The spokesperson for the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nikondet Phalangkun, clarified that this document is not a full peace agreement but merely a basis for future negotiations. President Trump noted that both countries intend to cease military actions and establish good neighborly relations. Additionally, Thailand agreed to release 18 Cambodian prisoners of war.

The declaration on the cessation of hostilities between Thailand and Cambodia.
The conflict between Thailand and Cambodia began on July 24 in the disputed border area of Oddar Meanchey province. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced a ceasefire on July 28 after negotiations in Kuala Lumpur. However, despite this, incidents continued to occur at the border: Thai soldiers encountered landmines, and at the end of September, Cambodian troops opened fire on Thai territory, leading to heightened combat readiness of Thai forces.
