After returning to presidential duties in 2025, Trump established trade tariffs for 180 countries and territories. According to data from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, by mid-September of this year, the government had earned approximately $90 billion from tariffs.
However, despite Trump's and his team's claims that the costs of tariffs are borne by foreign suppliers, in reality, the main financial burden falls on American importers, as noted by NPR. As a result, small businesses and consumers are facing rising prices.
The U.S. Supreme Court began examining the legality of the imposed tariffs on November 5, which had previously been deemed illegal by lower courts.
