The 19th Asian School Chess Championship will be held in Ulaanbaatar

On October 25, the 19th Asian School Chess Championship will kick off at the “Ulaanbaatar” hotel.

Young chess players from more than ten countries, including Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand, India, and China, have registered to participate in the tournament. There are also 65 chess players from the Russian Federation in Mongolia who have come to compete. After Russia joined the Asian Chess Federation in 2022, its representatives gained the opportunity to participate in the Asian Championship.

The championship will take place from October 25 to November 2 in the capital, where about 700 participants will compete in different age categories: boys and girls under 7, 9, 11, 13 years, as well as boys and girls under 15 and 17 years.

Grandmaster Altan-Ulzii Enkhtuul, a representative of FIDE, emphasized that students from all 21 aimags of Mongolia will participate in the tournament. The top three players will be able to become FIDE masters, which is a significant achievement for youth chess tournaments. Additionally, the winners will earn the right to participate in the 2026 Asian Championship. The event is expected to attract over 2000 people, including parents and guardians of the participants, contributing to the economic development of Mongolia. A total of 500 Mongolian students and about 200 foreign players have registered, although the number of participants from other countries has been somewhat limited due to weather conditions.

The results of the 19th Asian School Championship will be announced on November 2, 2025.
