World Championship (U-23): Nurzat Nurtaeva Advances to the Semifinals

Kyrgyz wrestler Nurzat Nurtayeva has reached the semifinals of the World Youth Wrestling Championship taking place in Serbia.

Competing in the 72 kg weight category, she began her journey from the quarterfinals.

In her first match of the tournament, Nurtayeva won against a German athlete, and then in the quarterfinals, she defeated a Russian wrestler, which allowed her to advance to the semifinals.

In the semifinal match, Nurzat will face the 2022 World Champion (U-20) from Japan and the 2024 Asian Champion among adults.

The semifinal bouts will start at 21:25 Bishkek time.

Kubanych Arinov, competing in the 60 kg category, will meet a representative from Uzbekistan in the quarterfinals.

Kairykul Sharshybaeva (up to 76 kg) lost to a Russian wrestler in her quarterfinal match but still has the opportunity to compete for a bronze medal.

Bekzat Orunkul uulu (up to 82 kg) was unable to advance further, losing in his first match to a wrestler from Turkey.
