Athletes from Kyrgyzstan participated in the World Powerlifting Championship

Successes of Kyrgyz Powerlifters



From October 24 to 29, 2017, the World Powerlifting Championship and individual events under the WRPF/WEPF/WAF versions are taking place in Moscow. The honor of the Kyrgyz Republic was defended by members of the national powerlifting team from the Central Federation of Bodybuilding "Strong," consisting of 4 athletes: Mukhametov Baturkan, Kurdanov Zaur, Kucheryavykh Petr, and Ramatov Akzholtoy.

On the very first day of the competition, the Kyrgyz athletes performed successfully, accumulating 10 gold medals, 1 silver, 1 bronze, and 3 absolute cups.

Mukhametov Baturkan (18 years old) - a 3-time champion and world record holder, competed in the weight category up to 60 kg and in the age categories "teenagers" and "open class." With an impressive result of 142.5 kg, he confidently won, allowing him to take first place in the age categories "teenagers" and "open class," as well as become the absolute champion among all "teenagers."

Kurdanov Zaur participated in the competition in the weight category up to 82 kg and in the age categories "juniors" and "open class." He finished the competition with a result of 190 kg, which allowed him to become the champion among "juniors" and third in the "open class," as well as the absolute champion among "juniors" and take third place in the absolute standings among the "open class."
Kucheryavykh Petr competed in the weight category up to 75 kg in the "open class." He won with results: squat - 235 kg, bench press - 145 kg, and deadlift - 282.5 kg.

Ramatov Akzholtoy won in the "people's bench press" nomination among juniors on the third day of the competition and became second in the "open class," losing to Kurdanov Zaur. Mukhametov Baturkan also participated in this competition and achieved a confident victory.

The entire team was prepared and coached by a top-category trainer from Russia, Master of Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic in powerlifting, now Master of Sports of Russia in military bench press - Rustam Mambetov.

It is noteworthy that more than 1500 athletes from different countries participated in this World Championship.
