37 years after the release of the last film, the "Gremlins" franchise is coming back to life. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Steven Spielberg and Chris Columbus are working on the new project.
The third film about the adventures of the "Gremlins" is already scheduled for November 19, 2027.

Steven Spielberg will serve as executive producer, while Chris Columbus, who wrote the script for the original 1984 film, will be the producer and director of the new movie. Alongside Columbus, the screenplay will also be written by Zak Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, who also worked on the latest installment of "Final Destination."

The first "Gremlins" film, directed by Joe Dante in 1984, tells the story of a cute creature named Mogwai, which a suburban family decides to keep as a pet. However, soon, after breaking the care rules, they face the consequences: Mogwai begins to multiply, and its offspring turn into a sinister gang of green monsters. The film, with a budget of $11 million, grossed $153 million at the US box office and became a box office hit.

Six years later, a sequel was released, also directed by Joe Dante. The film "Gremlins 2: The New Batch" takes place in New York City and satirizes the original film.
