Filming of the documentary "The New Silk Road" has begun in Kyrgyzstan, which will tell about the countries connected by the legendary route. This was reported to K-News by the well-known producer Stanislav Solovkin, who recently arrived in Bishkek.

As the producer explained, the rapidly growing market for television and film production is currently seeking new horizons, which has created a demand for filming new and interesting places that are not widely known.

"In fact, there are not many places where creative people have brought their ideas to life. There are almost no places left where producers or directors have not set foot. Only physically inaccessible places remain, or those that are very unsafe for life. But the territory that was once called the Soviet Union remains a blank spot. In the eyes of the average American or European viewer, the Soviet Union is represented as Moscow, St. Petersburg, Siberia, Chechnya, and Tashkent, and that's basically it," Stanislav Solovkin said.

He noted that the film "The New Silk Road" aims to break the usual stereotypes and show what the countries of the former USSR really look like and what they are famous for.

Filming will take place in Russia, Kazakhstan, China, and other countries through which the Great Silk Road passed. The filming process is already underway in some of them. Among the post-Soviet countries, Kyrgyzstan has become the first country where filming has started.

According to the producer, the filming process will mainly take place in Bishkek and its surroundings, as well as in Naryn. The filming schedule and what exactly will be shot for the film in our country have not yet been disclosed. However, Stanislav Solovkin noted that one of the most interesting topics will be the national game of kok-boru.

Solovkin also pointed out that the choice to start filming in Kyrgyzstan was not accidental.

"Kyrgyzstan is one of the most promising countries of the New Silk Road. Firstly, Kyrgyzstan is one of the few countries where true democracy exists in the region. Secondly, due to a number of historical and geopolitical circumstances, the economic and political culture of Kyrgyzstan has absorbed the best business and political qualities from both Europe and Asia. And thirdly, the human potential of the republic, which is one of the youngest and most developed countries in the region, cannot be overstated," Stanislav Solovkin emphasized.

The film "The New Silk Road" will consist of 7 episodes, each lasting one hour. Each episode will tell one story from each country. The filming crew will be in Kyrgyzstan from May 7 to May 20. The film itself is expected to be released in early 2016.
