A film from Kyrgyzstan received a prestigious UNESCO award at the "Asian Oscars"

The film "Kara Kyzyl Sary" has won the UNESCO "Cultural Diversity" award, which was presented as part of the Asia-Pacific Screen Academy (APSA). This was reported on the official website of the academy.

The award ceremony will take place on November 28 in Australia, in the city of Gold Coast, as part of the 18th APSA Awards.

The UNESCO "Cultural Diversity" prize is awarded to films that contribute to the preservation of cultural traditions and highlight important humanitarian and social issues. For Aktan Arym Kubat, this is not his first award at APSA: his previous work "Esimde" was awarded the Grand Jury Prize in 2022.

The film "Kara Kyzyl Sary," created by the National Film Studio "Kyrgyzfilm," is based on the works of writer Topchugul Shaidullaeva. Filming took place in the Batken region, and the plot revolves around the life of a carpet weaver named Turdugul, who possesses a rich inner world. Her weaving art becomes a reflection of the human destinies for which the carpets are created. The film touches on themes of love and moral choices in family relationships, as well as issues of migration and life in the border regions of the country.
