The film "Kara Kyzyl Sary," created by Aktan Arym Kubat, has been awarded the UNESCO prize for "Cultural Diversity" at the APSA ceremony. This was announced by the project's producer, Altynai Koichumanova.

The award ceremony will take place on November 28 in Gold Coast, Australia, as part of the 18th APSA Awards.

Established in 2007 with the support of UNESCO, FIAPF, and the Australian government, the APSA Awards celebrate outstanding achievements of filmmakers from over 70 countries, covering about half of the world's film distribution.

This award is often referred to as the "Asian Oscar" due to its significance and wide reach within the professional community. The APSA Academy includes more than 1,380 renowned directors and film professionals, among them winners of the Cannes and Berlin festivals, as well as Golden Globe and Oscar awards.

The UNESCO prize for "Cultural Diversity" is awarded to films that contribute to the preservation of cultural traditions and raise important humanitarian and social issues.

This is not the first award for Aktan Arym Kubat at APSA: in 2022, his film "Esimde" received the Grand Jury Prize.

"Kara Kyzyl Sary" is based on a novella by writer Topchugul Shaidullaeva. Filming took place in the Batken region, and the plot focuses on the fate of Turdugul, a carpet weaver with a rich inner world. Her craftsmanship in weaving reflects the life and character of those for whom she creates carpets. The film touches on themes of love and moral choice within the family, as well as exploring issues of migration and life in the border regions of the republic.
