In his address, Omuraliev emphasized that this event highlights the ancient roots and universal values of Turkic languages, which are an important part of the historical heritage of Turkic civilization.
He also noted that the decision to proclaim this day in the context of UNESCO, an international organization dedicated to preserving cultural and linguistic diversity, indicates the growing recognition and value of the Turkic world in the modern global context.
“We congratulate all member states and observers for their contribution to this important initiative,” the Secretary General added in his statement.
According to Kubanychbek Omuraliev, the Organization of Turkic States will continue its work to strengthen the unity of Turkic peoples and promote their common cultural and historical heritage.

The establishment of the World Day of the Turkic Language Family means that December 15 is now officially included in the UNESCO calendar as an international memorial date. Turkic languages have received the same status as Arabic (December 18) and Russian (June 6), for which corresponding days already exist in the UNESCO system.
