
From November 3 to 10, 2025, the Hungarian Film Days will take place in Bishkek, organized with the support of the Embassy of Hungary. As part of the event, viewers will be able to see a number of significant films that showcase the history of Hungary through the lens of the personal stories of the characters.
Screenings will be held at the I. Arabaev Kyrgyz State University and the I. Akhunbaev Kyrgyz State Medical Academy.
Event schedule:
November 3 (Monday), 17:00 - Opening of the Hungarian Film Days.
Film: "Diary for My Children" (1982), drama, 1 hr 46 min, directed by Márta Mészáros. This film won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival in 1984.
November 4 (Tuesday), 17:00.
Film: "Diary for My Loved Ones" (1987), drama, 2 hrs 23 min, directed by Márta Mészáros. This work became the silver prize winner at the 37th Berlin Film Festival.
November 5 (Wednesday), 17:00.
Film: "Semmelweis" (2023), historical drama, 2 hrs 07 min, directed by Lajos Koltai. The film tells the story of the 19th-century Hungarian doctor Ignác Semmelweis, who discovered the causes of postpartum fever.
Screenings from November 3 to 5 will take place in the large hall of I. Arabaev Kyrgyz State University (Bishkek, Razzakova St., 51A, Building 2).
November 10 (Monday), 15:00.
Film: "Semmelweis" (2023), historical drama, directed by Lajos Koltai. The screening will be held in the conference hall of the I. Akhunbaev Kyrgyz State Medical Academy (I. Akhunbaev St., 92).
