Popșoi specified that this concerns the denunciation of the CIS Charter, signed on January 22, 1993, in Minsk, the Agreement on the Creation of the CIS from December 8, 1991, and its annex, signed on December 22, 1991.
Explaining the consequences of this decision for the country, the minister noted that legally, the Republic of Moldova will no longer be part of the CIS. "This denunciation will allow us to officially state that we are not members of the CIS. Although we effectively suspended our participation earlier, this had not yet been formalized legally," he added.
According to him, the process has already been initiated. "We recently made a decision, and the coordination is actively underway. The denunciation documents will be submitted to parliament for further consideration. It is expected that by mid-February we will complete all procedures in the government, after which the parliament will make a final decision," Popșoi concluded.
He also noted that this measure clarifies Moldova's legal status in the context of the CIS and is an important step in strengthening the country's European integration.
