Sergey Lopatkin, a gastroenterologist from "SM-Clinic" in St. Petersburg, reported on the maximum dose of coffee that is considered safe for health to be consumed in a day. This was reported by Lenta.ru.
According to the specialist, it is safe for adults to consume up to 400 milligrams of caffeine per day, which is roughly equivalent to six servings of espresso or two to three large cups of Americano or cappuccino. This recommendation is supported by both international and Russian health organizations, including the World Health Organization (WHO) and Rospotrebnadzor.
Lopatkin also noted that this dose of caffeine is safe only for individuals without serious health conditions. He recommended limiting coffee consumption for those suffering from insomnia, anxiety, severe forms of hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, gastritis, and peptic ulcers. For pregnant women, the safe limit is only 200 milligrams, which is half of the recommended amount.
