At the ski resort of Courmayeur, located in the Aosta Valley in northwestern Italy, a tragedy occurred: three skiers, all French citizens aged between 29 and 35, became victims of an avalanche.
According to information published by the newspaper La Repubblica, two skiers died at the scene of the incident on Sunday, while the third, who was found by rescuers and was in critical condition, died in the hospital.
It is noted that all three skiers were in an area with a high avalanche risk, where a rating of three out of five was established at an altitude of up to 2400 meters and four at higher locations. Two helicopters from the alpine rescue team were involved in the rescue operations, as the skiers were buried under a layer of snow one meter deep.
