The Russian national football team for players under 21 is preparing for an international tournament that will take place in Kyrgyzstan from November 12 to 18. This information was announced by the team's press service.
The tournament will be held in the city of Osh and will gather four teams: Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Iran, and Bahrain. Each team will play three matches in a round-robin format.
The head coach of the youth team emphasized that participation in this tournament is an important stage in the preparation of young footballers and will provide an opportunity to test their skills against strong opponents from Asia. It is expected that the competition will attract the attention of local football fans and will be a step towards strengthening sports ties between the countries.
It is worth noting that since 2022, Russian clubs and national teams have been excluded from participating in tournaments organized by FIFA and UEFA due to the political situation. Nevertheless, national teams continue to participate in international matches and tournaments outside of Europe.
The tournament in Osh will serve as an important preparatory platform for the Russian youth national team ahead of upcoming matches in 2026.
