Kyrgyzstan defeated Jordan

The Kyrgyz national football team played its last home match in the qualifying round for the 2018 World Cup, which will take place in Russia. On the evening of November 17, they faced the Jordanian team and defeated them with a score of 1:0.

The match at the D. Omurzakov Stadium opened with a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the terrorist attacks in Paris and over Sinai. From the first minutes, the first half of the match was in the hands of the Kyrgyz team; however, it ended in a draw, and in the second half, in the 48th minute, midfielder Anton Zemlyanukhin scored the decisive goal. Now the Kyrgyz national team has 11 points and is in third place in the group, behind Australia (15 points) and Jordan (13 points).

- The Jordanian team is a qualified opponent. They were in first place, so there could be no underestimating their capabilities. I believe we prepared well and showed good football. After this victory, we have theoretical chances to take second place in the group, - noted Alexander Krestinin, the head coach of the national team, at the post-match press conference.
The national team will not qualify for the final part of the 2018 World Cup; however, if they try hard, they may secure a spot in the 2019 Asian Championship in the United Arab Emirates. In particular, this will be aided by the away match against the Tajik national team in the spring of 2016.
