According to the press service of the Ministry of Culture, the event began with a flower-laying ceremony at the writer's monument at the Ala-Archa cemetery. The main part of the evening took place at the National Theater "Manas," where state and cultural figures, representatives of the creative intelligentsia, and the writer's relatives gathered.
During the event, participants highly appreciated Beksultan Zhakiev's contribution to the development of Kyrgyz literature and national dramaturgy. Attendees recalled his life path, creative legacy, and public activities.
Throughout his career, Beksultan Zhakiev held important positions in various institutions, including the Kyrgyzfilm studio, the Ministry of Culture of the Kyrgyz SSR, the State Committee for Cinematography, and the Union of Theater Workers of Kyrgyzstan. He also served as an advisor to the president and headed the state directorate "Manas–1000."
His drama "Atanyn tagdyry" ("Fate of the Father") made a significant contribution to national literature and theatrical art, introducing new ideas and philosophical reflections that resonated widely in society. This work was staged more than 500 times at the Kyrgyz Drama Theater and over 300 times in theaters in Almaty, Shymkent, Zhambyl, and Semey in Kazakhstan. Based on this drama, an opera was created (composer V. Gusev), as well as a ballet inspired by "Saadak kakty" (choreographer E. Jumabaev). Zhakiev's works have been translated into Russian, Yakut, Kazakh, and other languages and continue to be performed on the stages of theaters in various countries.
