This year, on the eve of Christmas, the world celebrates the centenary of one of the most famous children's characters — Winnie the Pooh, as reported by BBC News.
The first mention of the little bear occurred on December 24, 1925, when the London newspaper London Evening News published a story titled "The Wrong Bees."
Since then, this bear has won the hearts of millions, becoming a favorite alongside characters like Tigger and Christopher Robin. His adventures unfolded in the fictional Hundred Acre Wood, which actually represents Ashdown Forest in East Sussex, where the author, A.A. Milne, had his country home.
The book "Winnie-the-Pooh," which describes the adventures of the toy bear and Milne's son, Christopher Robin, was published in 1926. Its sequel, "The House at Pooh Corner," was released in 1928.
