Today, due to the intensification of slope deformation and a landslide, the roadway and access section of the bridge collapsed. Local authorities reported that no one was injured as a result of the incident.
The Hongci Bridge, which stands 232 meters tall and is 758 meters long, was constructed earlier this year. It is part of the reconstruction of the G317 highway, which runs through the area of the reservoir formed by the Shuangjiangkou Dam.
The Shuangjiangkou Dam on the Dadu River, which reaches a height of 312 meters, is an earthen dam and is considered the highest in the world. Currently, the timeline for the restoration of the damaged part of the bridge has not been specified.
