In Rome, in the city center, part of the Conti Tower, a well-known local landmark, has collapsed, according to information from Corriere della Sera.

Currently, the building is undergoing restoration. The collapse occurred while four workers were inside. One of them was hospitalized in critical condition, two sustained minor injuries, and the third was trapped under the rubble.

Rescuers attempted to free the trapped worker, but after two hours, a secondary collapse occurred. As a result, this incident led to minor injuries for one of the firefighters.

The construction of the Conti Tower began in the 9th century, and for many years it served as the residence of the influential Conti family. A complete reconstruction of the building took place in the 13th century at the initiative of Pope Innocent III, who was a representative of this lineage.

In the 20th century, the tower was used as an office for the Rome City Hall. In recent years, it has been out of operation and was under reconstruction, which was expected to be completed by 2026.
