This robbery occurred on October 19, when the perpetrators quickly broke into the Apollo Gallery and stole nine historical jewels. The estimated value of the stolen items is around €88 million.

Jewelry belonging to Empress Maria Louise was stolen from the museum, as well as three pieces from the collection of Queen Maria Amalia and Dutch Queen Hortense de Beauharnais, and four items from the collection of Empress Eugenie.

According to the investigation, a group of four people was involved in the crime. Two suspects were arrested on Sunday, October 26. Both detainees have a criminal history and were previously convicted of theft. One of them, a 34-year-old Algerian living in Aubervilliers, claims he worked as a delivery driver. The other also lived in the area and was involved in delivery.

Prosecutor Becqueau stated that both men have been charged with organized robbery and conspiracy. She also noted that the stolen jewels have still not been found.

The day after the Louvre robbery, another crime occurred — a robbery took place at the museum dedicated to the French writer and philosopher Denis Diderot, located in Langres, in the Haute-Marne department.
