Witnesses of the incident reported this information to Turmush.
According to them, the accident happened on November 3 at the 583rd kilometer of the Bishkek–Osh road, in the area of the Boz-Chychkan rural district of the Barpy Suzak region.
“The time of the accident was around 11:30. A HOWO dump truck, which was traveling from Osh to Bishkek and was loaded with gravel, collided with a Renault truck heading towards Osh. The cause of the collision was the failure of the dump truck's brakes. Both drivers were taken to the hospital by ambulance. Due to the incident, traffic on the highway was restricted for 2-3 hours,” one of the witnesses said.
This information was confirmed by the Traffic Safety Department of the Jalal-Abad Regional Internal Affairs Directorate.
“The driver of the Renault truck, 28 years old, is a resident of the Kadamjai district of the Batken region, while the driver of the HOWO dump truck is a native of Uzbekistan, born in 1997. The cause of the accident was the failure of the dump truck's brakes while it was going downhill. Both drivers were hospitalized,” the agency reported.
According to the regional hospital, the driver of the HOWO dump truck was admitted in serious condition and placed in intensive care. He was diagnosed with a concussion, lung injury, and fractures of four ribs. His condition is currently assessed as serious.
