“Many citizens of Kazakhstan are currently unable to visit Kyrgyzstan. In 2024, a law regarding visas was adopted, which has led to situations where spouses, for example, a citizen of Kazakhstan, cannot enter Kyrgyzstan. If a child born in Kazakhstan is a citizen of Kyrgyzstan, this also creates additional difficulties. We need to reconsider these rules. This particularly affects students. I understand that similar measures are also in place in Kazakhstan, but I ask to ease the situation for our citizens. Let's propose that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs study this situation. Families should not fall apart because of borders, as one spouse is in Kazakhstan and the other is in Kyrgyzstan,” Bekeshev said.
He also asked the chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh to instruct the relevant committee to consider this issue.
We remind you that starting from September 1, 2025, new rules for the stay of citizens of Kyrgyzstan in Kazakhstan will be introduced. Kyrgyz citizens will be allowed to stay in Kazakhstan for no more than 90 days within a 180-day period, otherwise, their rights to entry may be restricted. Similar rules for Kazakh citizens will come into effect in Kyrgyzstan starting December 1, 2025.
