In the documentary film "Five Years - The Beginning of a New Era," Akylbek Japarov, the former chairman of the cabinet of ministers, stated that Kyrgyzstan was able to regain "Kumtor" under state control and thereby protect its interests.
“In 2022, we completed the process of transferring ‘Kumtor’ into the hands of the state. This step became a symbol of the restoration of dignity for the Kyrgyz people. During negotiations with the transnational corporation Centerra, the state demonstrated its ability to protect national interests,” noted Japarov.
It should be noted that the film "Five Years - The Beginning of a New Era" covers the five-year term of Sadyr Japarov's presidency.
The documentary film analyzes in detail the significance of this term, including the reforms carried out, the fight against crime and corruption, as well as the return of national resources to the people and the improvement of the economic situation in the country.
