In the village of Ak-Shiyrak, located in the Jeti-Oguz district of the Issyk-Kul region, a case of a snow leopard attacking a domestic goat was recorded on January 29, around 4:00 AM.
According to the Ministry of Natural Resources, the incident was captured on video by the homeowner and later became available to a wider audience. The owner noticed the predator when he went outside due to the barking of a dog. At that time, the snow leopard had entered the yard and grabbed the goat.
As specialists explained, it is possible that the predator was elderly, as it was unable to fully carry away its prey. This may indicate a natural decline in its hunting skills. They also noted that the snow leopard has appeared in this village before, and its tracks can be seen near some yards. This time, it was heading towards the Teski pasture.
The ministry urges residents to be cautious when encountering wild animals and to strictly adhere to safety rules, as well as to promptly report such cases to the relevant authorities.
