At a meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on Finance, Budget, and Entrepreneurship, Deputy Elvira Surabaldiyeva raised important issues concerning the Ministry of Defense. In particular, she expressed concern about the increasing number of suicides among the youth. “Parents are increasingly coming to me with horrifying stories. It is necessary to work together with law enforcement agencies to understand the reasons why we are losing our children. Some have hanged themselves, some have shot themselves, but no one is analyzing these tragedies,” she emphasized.
The deputy also touched upon the issue of the rising costs and conditions of alternative service.
A representative from the Ministry of Defense responded that according to the legislation, citizens who have reached the age of 18 can serve in alternative service for 18 months.
“There is a medical order No. 787, which takes into account 12 diseases that grant the right to be exempted from service, including vision problems, myopia, and hemorrhoids,” he added.
The deputy was also interested in the salary levels of military personnel.
In response, it was stated that military salaries have increased by 100% depending on experience and position.
“Currently, military personnel can earn up to 100,000 soms per month, including the costs of maintaining each of them,” noted the representative from the Ministry of Defense.
