Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry Bakyt Torobaev announced that farmers who begin to use drip and sprinkler irrigation will have access to preferential loans with an interest rate of 2%. He made this statement during a session of the Jogorku Kenesh, where he was responding to questions from deputies.
He also added that the process of issuing loans will start next month. In his speech, Torobaev emphasized the importance of fully transitioning the Issyk-Kul region to drip irrigation.
“If we implement drip irrigation, it will allow us to increase the volume of water flowing into Lake Issyk-Kul. Otherwise, if all the water is used for agricultural needs, it may not reach the lake. Thus, our goal is to completely transition the Issyk-Kul region to drip and sprinkler irrigation,” the minister stated.
