According to the deputy, without urgent measures, the country may face an ecological crisis.
At a parliamentary meeting, Ulan Primov drew attention to the critical situation with the water level in Lake Issyk-Kul, which continues to decline, and the shoreline is receding.
The deputy emphasized that if urgent measures to protect the lake are not taken, it could lead to serious ecological consequences for the entire country.
"This issue was previously discussed at meetings with the Cabinet of Ministers. The main reason is that a significant portion of water resources is used for irrigating fields by farmers, resulting in less water reaching the lake, which threatens its volume," Primov stated.
He also reported that previously about 80 rivers flowed into the lake, but now this number has decreased to 30.
In this regard, the deputy proposed to create a separate agency that would focus on lake issues, interact with international donors, attract funding, and conduct informational work with the population.
