In Kyrgyzstan, as part of the celebration of World Wildlife Day, the 12th annual ceremony took place, honoring rangers and activists who made significant contributions to the fight against poaching. This was reported on the website of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision.

The event was organized by the public fund Snow Leopard Foundation in Kyrgyzstan in collaboration with the Ministry of Natural Resources.

Since the beginning of this initiative, awards have been presented to 171 individuals who fought against illegal hunting of snow leopards and wild ungulates. In 2026, 35 rangers and citizens received honorary diplomas and prizes for their courage in identifying 40 cases of violations.

The activities of the rangers cover hard-to-reach mountainous areas, where they patrol territories and prevent cases of poaching and illegal arms trafficking. Their efforts play a crucial role in the conservation of rare species, such as the snow leopard — a symbol of the highlands of Kyrgyzstan.

The Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, A. Toktobaev, emphasized that supporting biodiversity and protecting those who work on the front lines of nature conservation remain key priorities of the state environmental policy.
