According to Tatyana Molostova, a medical expert at EGENY, after the winter period, our body undergoes a restructuring of biological clocks, which can lead to temporary difficulties in adapting to new conditions, particularly sleep disturbances. She shared her thoughts in an interview with the "Gazeta.ru" portal.

“Human circadian sleep rhythms depend on the change of day and night, as well as the seasons. A lack of daylight leads to a decrease in serotonin production — the hormone responsible for activity and mood. At the same time, the level of melatonin, which is responsible for sleep, increases. As a result, in spring, after winter, biological clocks begin to readjust, which can cause sleep problems,” she explained.

Molostova also added that during the winter period, when the daylight is short, the level of melatonin remains high even during the day, creating a state of constant fatigue and apathy. With the arrival of spring, when the daylight becomes longer, there is a shift in biological rhythms. Sleep disturbances during this period are not a figment of the imagination, but real physiology caused by hormonal changes due to a lack of light. Most often, this is an adaptive response of the body that does not require medical intervention.

“To restore a normal sleep schedule, it is important to stick to a routine — going to bed and waking up at the same time, engaging in physical activity, avoiding phone use two hours before sleep, and reducing lighting levels before bedtime. The body requires several days to adapt. However, if normalizing sleep is not successful, it is advisable to consult a sleep specialist,” she concluded.
