
The international football championship, the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, will begin on December 21 in Morocco. The opening match will take place at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah in Rabat, where the Moroccan national team will face the Comoros team.
The tournament was moved from Guinea due to infrastructure issues. The matches will be held in six cities: Rabat, Casablanca, Agadir, Marrakech, Fez, and Tangier, across nine stadiums.
A total of 24 national teams will participate in the competition, divided into six groups:
Group A: Morocco, Mali, Zambia, Comoros
Group B: Egypt, South Africa, Angola, Zimbabwe
Group C: Nigeria, Tunisia, Uganda, Tanzania
Group D: Senegal, DR Congo, Benin, Botswana
Group E: Algeria, Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea, Sudan
Group F: Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Gabon, Mozambique
The defending champion, the Ivory Coast national team, will compete in Group F against Cameroon, Gabon, and Mozambique. Nigeria, the finalist of the previous tournament, will play in Group C with Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania.
The tournament will last until January 18, 2026, with the final match taking place in Rabat.
The opening of the tournament promises to be a significant event for local fans, and the entire championship will be filled with matches featuring the best national teams of Africa.
