At the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup held at the "Khalifa" Stadium in Doha, the Portugal national team claimed victory, defeating Austria with a narrow score of 1:0 in the final.

Cabral scores the decisive goal

The only goal of the match was scored by Aniziu Cabral in the 32nd minute, when he finished a quick combination from his team.

For both teams, this match marked their debut final in this age category at the World Cup.

Austrians failed to capitalize on their chance

The tournament's top scorer, Johannes Moser, who scored 8 goals, was unable to find the net in the final, although his team came close to scoring in the 85th minute — substitute Daniel Frausher hit the post immediately after coming onto the field.

Austria took 15 shots on goal, while Portugal made 14, with 5 shots on target for the Austrians compared to 4 for the Portuguese — the match was tense and evenly matched.

FIFA: "A new step in the development of youth football"

Arsène Wenger, FIFA's Chief of Global Football Development, described the first-ever 48-team U-17 World Cup as a "football paradise."

He noted that the new tournament format will encourage football federations around the world to invest more actively in youth programs:

“This championship will change the world of football. We aim for every federation to pay more attention to the development of young talents, and this tournament will serve as an incentive for them,” Wenger emphasized.
