Asekov competed in the under 58 kg category.
He began his path to victory with a decisive win over Tyron Charles from Trinidad and Tobago, finishing the match in 24 seconds. In the next round, he also successfully defeated Youssef Zerhouni from Morocco, winning in 47 seconds.
In the semifinals, the Kyrgyzstani triumphed over Arman Turumbetov, and in the final, he secured the gold medal by defeating Hakberdi Jumayev from Turkmenistan.
Thus, Asekov became the world champion, taking first place in his weight category.
It is worth noting that earlier, gold in the sports sambo competition in the over 98 kg category was won by Bekbolot Toktogonov.
