Weather and Landscape in Hunting Areas
Weather in Hunting Areas
Wind and sun are your most frequent companions throughout the day. As mentioned earlier, you should be prepared for nighttime frosts of up to 30 degrees below zero and temperatures at or even above freezing.
Wind is always present on the ridges that you will cross on horseback.
Snow in the mountains is common, especially in the evening and at night after September. Its duration can range from a few hours to 1-2 days, but this is more of an exception than a rule.
Rain occurs only in the Chui region at the beginning of the hunting season (August and September). Its duration is quite short, lasting at most through the night.

The height of the mountains varies depending on the region. You will need to approach the animals on horseback, but then dismount and continue your approach on foot within shooting distance. The average height in the Chui region is from 2000 to 2500 meters, and in the Naryn region from 2500 to 4000 meters.
The ibex usually spends most of the day on the rocks, descending to the vegetation areas during feeding times in the morning and evening. For this reason, you often have to shoot upwards if you approach them from a valley. Or shoot downwards if you are lucky enough to climb higher than the ibex, making it appear right in front of you.
Glaciers are located on the isthmuses between the rocks and can also be found in riverbeds. They rarely melt; during the day in early autumn, they may melt, creating numerous streams, but they always freeze at night. Glaciers consist of blue ice and are very dangerous to cross, both on horseback and on foot. You should always cross them as recommended by the guide, who has extensive experience in overcoming such obstacles.
