Burgan-Suu Gorge Waterfall
A hike to the waterfall will take about two days, as the gorge leading to the waterfall is long. The starting point for the hike is the village of Zharkonbaev (a little east of the village of Ananyev). If there is transport available, you can reach the village of Karoool-Debe (at the beginning of the gorge). From there, you can either walk or ride a horse. Along the way, you will need to cross the main river several times (on the General Staff map, it is called, like the pass, Burgan-Suu) and one of its fairly large tributaries. The main river is comparable in volume to the Left Talgar.
An important landmark: a large clearing in the area of the last spruces. At this point, two gorges (and accordingly two trails) converge, leading from the Kungey Alatau passes. If you face north, the gorge on the right descends from the pass known by the names Karakiya, Baisaur Eastern. The gorge on the left (the main gorge) leads to the aforementioned Baisaur Western pass (Burgan-Suu). The path to the waterfall lies in this gorge. The river runs continuously to the left of the trail. At this point, the spruce forest ends, and the predominant vegetation is juniper, or even grass.
On the way to the waterfall, you will pass among huge chunks of rock, each the size of a one-story house. However, there are more smaller stones. Most likely, they rolled down as a result of powerful earthquakes. In that area, the slopes consist of heavily eroded rock formations. The waterfall is located in the bed of the main river. It is multi-tiered – four (or even five) cascades. From distant points, it can be seen in all its glory. The closer you get to the waterfall, the less of it is visible.
It might be interesting to see the waterfall from the right bank of the river. However, the current is so fast, and there is so much water in the summer, that crossing to the opposite bank at this point is quite problematic.
