Shygaev Yuristanbek Abdievich
Graphic artist, painter. People's Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic. Laureate of the State Prize named after Toktogul. Born on August 9, 1957, in the city of Frunze.
In 1984, he graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I.E. Repin, Faculty of Graphics.
From 1984 to 1985, he worked in the artistic production workshops of the Artistic Fund of the Kyrgyz SSR (Przhevalsk). In 1985, he completed his postgraduate studies in the creative workshop of painting at the Academy of Arts of the USSR under the guidance of the People's Artist of the USSR T. Sadykov.
Since 1988, he has been a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR.
In the 1980s, the artist achieved great success in the field of graphic arts. He brilliantly mastered various graphic techniques - color linocut, pencil drawing, and watercolor. The works of the 1990s by Shygaev represent a complex conglomerate of images from traditional Kyrgyz art and episodes from "Manas," where he found a path to the truths of Manas, a symbol and a sign. He creates his own world, using techniques of abstract and figurative painting, depending on the concept.
Since 1982, he has participated in regional, republican, nationwide, and international exhibitions.
His works are held in the Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts named after G. Aitiev; in the State Tretyakov Gallery; in contemporary art museums in Canada, Seoul, Cologne, Paris, Stockholm, Washington, and others. He is a holder of the Gold Medal at the 9th Asian Exhibition-Biennale, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
