Oil and Gas

Oil and gas are primarily found along the borders of the Fergana Basin. To date, seven oil fields, four oil and gas fields, two gas fields, and one oil and gas condensate field are known. All developed fields are small in terms of reserves.
The productivity coefficient of most oil and gas fields is low, and they contain a lot of water.
The main fields are being developed in a natural mode, but production volumes are decreasing. All developed fields are in the late stage of development, and oil extraction from hard-to-reach reservoirs is declining, requiring the application of the latest technology.
All oil extraction operations are currently being conducted at a depth of 4,000 meters. According to specialists, significant oil reserves may be present at a depth of 7,000 meters in existing wells and other locations. The presence of oil and gas fields is predicted in deeply buried Paleozoic rocks.
In 2001, as a result of joint drilling operations with the Canadian company Cadima Petroleum in the mountainous part of the oil-bearing area (structure) of Mailuu-Suu, a large oil field was discovered.
